Reliable change index ( RCI) methodology determines a test result representing a clinically meaningful change as opposed to normal variability in test performance.
The RCI combines
2 (SEM2 ); the standard error of the difference (SEtljtT); and the z-score associated with the 95% ( z 1.96), 90% ( z = 1.684), and 80% ( z = 1.282) confidence intervals, respectively, to compute the predictive RCI values for each outcome measure ( formulas below).
RCI = SEjjff X z-score
Reliable change index: a methodology to determine if a test result represents a clinically meaningful change as opposed to normal variability in test performance; combines Pearson correlation coefficients in addition to the means; standard deviations; the standard error of the measures; the standard error of the difference; and the z-score associated with 95%, 90%, and 80% confidence intervals
